Shiel M. Gallagher
Managing Partner, Gallagher & Kosner Law, LLC
Shiel Gallagher is a strategic and detail-driven attorney whose multidisciplinary background in business, corporate tax, real estate, and mortgage foreclosure litigation provides a unique and valuable perspective within the firm’s personal injury practice. She brings forensic-level thinking and strategic analysis to the evaluation and development of complex, high-value cases.
Before concentrating her efforts within the firm’s personal injury practice, Shiel built a distinguished career handling commercial and residential real estate matters, mortgage foreclosure defense, and advising individuals and business owners on complex state and federal tax issues. She has extensive experience negotiating tax liabilities and financial settlements, bringing a disciplined, fact-driven approach to her work.
Shiel is actively involved in the work-up and investigation of cases, working closely with other attorneys and forensic experts to analyze records, interpret technical materials, develop evidentiary strategies, and identify key facts that shape case direction. She coordinates expert review and synthesizes complex information into clear, cohesive frameworks that support strong claims.
Her work has been critical to the development of several of the firm’s most significant recoveries, including matters resulting in a $31.5 million jury verdict arising from the death of a firefighter, a $31 million settlement involving the drowning death of a minor, and a $27 million settlement arising from a reckless police pursuit, as well as a $13.5 million negligent security wrongful death settlement and a $10 million recovery for a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle requiring spinal surgery. She has also contributed to numerous additional multi-million-dollar settlements.
In addition to her work on cases, Shiel plays a central role in the firm’s operational and financial strategy, overseeing the firm’s financial direction, structuring workflows, and ensuring the organization operates efficiently and effectively at scale.
Shiel graduated from DePaul University College of Law, where she earned a Certificate in Tax Law. She received her undergraduate degree from Lake Forest College.
